With so many natural resources and abundance available, a clean atmosphere, and excellent climate conditions, the earth could not be abandoned to its own fate without being taken care of; otherwise, it would have been a waste of time and an unwise decision for God to bring it into existence. Someone had to take care of it, plough the soil, grow crops, reap the harvest, utilise its natural resources effectively, and make the land prosperous. Unfortunately, there was no man to "labour the ground." For that matter, the creator withheld the rain. Genesis 2:5
Then, God decided to create the first man from the same ground dust He brought earth into existence and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils, and the man became a living being" Genesis 2:7. He named him Adam, which means man.
A Reflection on Adam and the Purpose of Creation
Adam was the embodiment of God's divine attributes. He reflected the creator's perfect nature: love, joy, peace, wisdom, knowledge, creativity and righteousness. As a result, He was spiritually sound, mentally sane, and physically healthy. In every way, he was qualified to take on responsibility. Therefore, God took him and "placed him in the garden of Eden to work it and to guard it." Genesis 2:15. His role was not only agricultural but deeply spiritual - to govern creation under God's guidance. He was to manage the entire Garden of Eden by relying solely on the Holy Spirit.
Besides, God made every natural resource in the garden available to him to use and prosper: seed-bearing plants for cultivation, trees for wood, precious stones and metals, for beauty and utility. This allowed him to work well and create wealth. With Adam’s care, the earth would thrive and show the creator’s glory. Through love, people would live together in peace and abundance.
Eve, Adam's Divine Partner
Eve, Adam's counterpart, was taken from one of his ribs and was likewise the embodiment of God's attributes, reflecting His nature. She was created with a divine purpose: to be Adam's suitable partner, assisting him in every task and sharing in their God-given responsibilities.
Eve’s creation was special. She was given a womb so she and Adam could fulfil God’s plan to fill the earth with people. But her role was more than motherhood; she also stood for partnership, unity, and shared purpose.
