Chapter 3 - Work The Established Principle To Create Wealth

WEALTH CREATION IN GOD'S ECONOMIC PLAN FOR HUMANITY

"And God said, let us make man in our own image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." Genesis 1:26-28

From the very beginning, even before the fall, man was designed to work. Farming was the very first task assigned to mankind, showing that labour and productivity were integral to God's plan for creation.

Everything Adam and Eve needed to live abundantly was already provided on Earth. The perfect environment: air, oxygen, sunlight and rain. He filled the land with seed-bearing nutritious plants (fruits and vegetables, herbs, spices) for food; precious stones, as mentioned in Genesis 2:10-12 (gold and onyx) and in Ezekiel 28:13 (carnelian, chrysolite, emerald, topaz, jasper, lapis lazuli, turquoise and beryl); wood that could be obtained from trees; metals that could be extracted from mineral-rich deposits found within the Earth's crust, all intended for human multiple uses and creativity.

However, these resources were not placed there to be contemplated or left untouched. God expected Adam and Eve to apply their strength, intelligence, and creativity to cultivate the soil, grow food, and transform raw materials into useful and valuable products. God expected Adam and Eve to use their strength to plough the soil and grow all the seed-bearing plants for food, to use their creative mind to transform precious stones, metals, and trees into valuable materials to provide for their needs. This principle, using what God provides to produce and multiply, is the foundation of actual wealth creation.

Then He commanded them to "be fruitful" and increase in number, fill the earth and subdue it." Genesis 1:28. The word 'fruitful' was associated with Adam and Eve to reproduce and fill the earth. Although the word relates to human reproduction, according to some Bible scholars and pastors, 'fruitful' also refers to the creation of wealth. God wanted Adam and Eve to be productive in every area of their lives, and work was a key part of this plan, empowering them to fulfil His command.

Work, then, has always been part of God’s economic plan. It’s how we reflect His image—by taking what He has provided and turning it into something meaningful. In God’s eyes, wealth isn’t just about money—it’s about fruitfulness, creativity, and using our gifts to make the world flourish.

How Did God Plan to Pay Adam and Eve?

It is an interesting question, isn't it? How did God plan to pay Adam and Eve for their work, since He never established a monetary system with a tax office, a central bank, payroll, and a social welfare system to provide income support in case they were unable to work for any reason?

So, how were they meant to live?

God never intended for Adam and Eve to work for Him like hired workers expecting wages. His plan was for them to partner with Him to manage the earth and its resources.

The relationship between the two parties was not that of a master who created slaves to work for Him. It was a partnership between a Father and His children, co-heirs sharing responsibility over creation.

That's why there was no need for a monetary system, money, banks, or any kind of financial institution. A social welfare system, or any other financial institution. God, as the true Owner of the earth and its fullness thereof, never meant for humanity to become slaves to economic systems. Instead, he gave Adam and Eve something far greater - Dominion.

He made Adam and his wife rulers over the entire earth and the fullness thereof"Let them have dominion" and "subdue" the earth. Their role was to manage the resources entrusted to them, guided by the Holy Spirit. In other words, they were to run the business of the earth under divine partnership, not human control.

Think of it like a loving father who gives his children a piece of land and the materials to build a home and grow food. The father does not sell the land to them - he gives it freely. The house obviously does not build itself, nor do the crops grow by themselves; the children must put in the work to see the results.

In this case, Adam's labour and that of his helper, Eve, were not measured by the hour, week, or month to receive wages. The fruit of their labour was the harvest; money was not involved. Their needs were fully met through their relationship with God and His provision. As long as they depended on Him, the Source of all things, they had everything they needed to create and sustain abundance on earth.

It is understood that the first two human beings, created in the image of God, lived peacefully while carrying out their daily tasks. The concept of money did not exist. Adam and Eve did not need to exchange money for basic needs. Their lives were free from the complexities of currency; all they had to do was work, be productive, and enjoy the rewards of their harvest and the fruits of their creative labour.

That was God’s original economic plan for humanity—simple, practical, and complete. Prosperity came through productivity. Work was (and still is) the key to fruitfulness and blessing. Nothing about that principle has changed today.

Sadly, the perfect plan of God to prosper the human race through love, peace, harmony, abundance, and prosperity would suffer a fatal blow and set the future generation of humans born after Adam and Eve on an evil path that would lead them to injustice, unfairness, pain and suffering we today continue to experience.

Chapter 1 - The World Before Money

"The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and they that dwell therein". "For He founded it on the seas and established it on the waters."   Psalm 24: 1& 2 Was there a world without the monetary system and money? Even before men ever existed to work it and take care of it? And when men were created to take care of the earth, they accessed their basic needs, in exchange for their labour, instead of purchasing them? According to the scriptural records of Genesis 1 and 2 , such a period existed.  In the first two chapters of Genesis, we are given a description of the provision made before humans and animals arrived, and we discover that God equipped the earth with everything required to sustain life.   "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  The earth was formless and empty. Darkness covered the surface of the deep, and the spirit of God hovered over the waters." Genesis: 1-2.  Creation began with the spoken word...

Chapter 5 The Fall And its economic Impact on The world

In chapter three, we saw that God did not establish a monetary system in the Garden of Eden. As the owner of the earth and all that is in it, He never intended humanity to be ruled by pieces of coloured paper marked with numbers, nor by coins bearing hidden effigies, because human lives were not meant to be measured in symbols of monetary value. God wanted  Adam to rely on the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to work productively and be rewarded with the fruit of his labour. The relationship between the two was more than enough. That was God’s perfect economic plan for humanity — but the Fall disrupted it. Human lives are governed by moral principles. When we break the rules, consequences follow. There was a reason why the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was not supposed to even be touched. Adam was instructed not to eat of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Eve also received the instruction and argued with the serpent. The authority was in their ...
